Hasan Ali writes about Pakistan for the Christian Science Monitor.
His reporting focuses on civil rights, freedom of speech, and the intersection of culture and political activism. He has been a longtime contributor to The Nation Magazine and has also written for Time and Vanity Fair.
Hasan has worked as a journalist in three different continents. He began his career working as a correspondent for the english-language service of Pakistan television. After moving to New York in 2015, he worked as a producer on the award-winning documentary “Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook,” and was also part of the team that launched the CBSN digital series “On Assignment.”
Hasan holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oxford and a master’s degree from Columbia University in the City of New York.
